Bonnaroo festival grounds (Manchester, TN)


So I'm still debating whether to go this year.

Last year kicked my ass. It was a lot of work. It was a lot of heat. And my pitiful self (read: the pasty-skinned lass who is rather fond of air-conditioning and indoor plumbing) positively hates that one-two punch of manual labor in the southern sun.

Did I mention it was also dry and humid as Hell? We're talkin' the kind of heat that would make Dante's Inferno seem like a luxury resort destination.

Tennessee in summer. There are a few circles of Hell that are more miserable. Just not many... The flip side is that @ Bonnaroo, free drugs & smelly hippies abound instead of malebranche. Granted, Dante might consider the former worthy of some form of eternal contrapasso, but I digress..

This year's lineup isn't all that bad. It's just not as fabulous as last year's. The 2007 lineup had so many incredible acts - The Police, Damien Rice, Flaming Lips, Wilco, The Decemberists, Pete Yorn, Ben Harper, The National, Feist, Spoon, etc etc etc.

This year's headline acts are Pearl Jam, Metallica, and Kanye West? Seriously? Bonnaroo started out as a jam band festival. WTF?!?
